Your dentists call it “silver filling”, but in actuality it is 50% MERCURY, 25% silver, and 25% other metals such as copper, tin, and nickel. It is called AMALGAM. Sources of mercury include seafood, vaccination, cosmetics, printing ink and tattoos, sewage sludge, pesticides, psoriatic treatment, industrial waste, polishes, fabric softener and water. However, the main source of mercury toxicity is dental fillings, followed by seafood.

Here are some mercury facts we need to be aware of:

1. Mercury/Amalgam is one of the most toxic elements on earth. Ask any chemist, and he/she will shudder at the word, Mercury.

2. Just a gram of mercury can contaminate several acres of water, threatening the safety of fish supply.

3. When implanted in the teeth, it vaporizes and enters into the brain, bypassing the blood-brain-barrier (BBB). The BBB protects the brain from harmful compounds, which normally goes through our 5 liters of blood before getting past this barrier to settle in the brain.

4. Once it enters the brain in the form of vapor, it disrupts brain functions resulting in the impairments of the hormonal, nervous and circulatory systems.

5. Pregnant women who are exposed to mercury (especially amalgam), may cause neurological abnormalities to the developing fetus (baby).

6. The list of symptoms caused by mercury often lead to a syndrome of confusion. Refer to the diagram and look up the website for further information.

7. The leading countries battling mercury and amalgam are: Sweden , Germany , Austria , and in the US , California, Maine, followed by another 9 other states.

8. MERCURY is an established, well known neuro-toxin. According to World Health Organization (WHO), there is no known allowable limit for mercury in the human body.

9. According to Environment Protection Agency (EPA), the allowable mercury level is 0.1 mcg per kilogram of human body weight. For each amalgam filling the average mercury exposure (in vapor form) is 15 mcg. Therefore, if a person has 6 fillings, then 6 x 15 mcg = 90 mcg exposure PER DAY!

10. Equally detrimental and causing a string of symptoms similar to mercury, are other dental procedures such as ROOT CANALS, CROWNING and IMPLANTS.

11. In January 2008, Norway and Sweden totally banned mercury fillings. In April 2008, Denmark banned mercury fillings. Norwegian Minister of the Environment Erik Solheim said, "Mercury is among the most dangerous environmental toxins.
